Global Real Estate Veteran Retiring from Shannon Waltchack

12.12.2022

Tim Blair, CCIM, CPM is retiring as a partner at Shannon Waltchack (SW) at the close of 2022. His leadership has been instrumental in Shannon Waltchack’s growth since joining the firm in 2010. His influence in the commercial real estate industry expands far beyond his work in Birmingham, as President of CCIM Institute– the global leader in commercial real estate education.

Tim was elected Global President of CCIM Institute (CCIM) in 2021. CCIM is comprised of over 13,000 members and 55 chapters worldwide and representing all disciplines of commercial real estate. In this capacity, Tim was an ambassador not just of SW, but of Birmingham, AL, and tens of thousands of commercial real estate brokers throughout the country and the world. Paul Rumler, CEO of CCIM Institute, said, “Tim was CCIM’s Global President at a pivotal time for our organization and industry. We are extremely grateful to Tim for his dedication and contributions to CCIM and wish him the best in this next chapter.”

“We are incredibly proud of Tim’s achievements as the CCIM Global President, the first Alabamian to hold the office. I can think of no one better to be recognized in such a way, than Tim.” said Len Shannon, SIOR, CCIM, Tim’s partner at SW. “When I think of Tim, the word faithful comes to mind. I admire his faithfulness, commitment and love of his family and friends. One of my life’s major blessings has been being his partner and enjoying a deep friendship with such an outstanding person of character.”

Tim has been a vital player in SW’s success. Most recently, he championed the SW Neighborhood Center (SWNC) investment fund strategy, culminating in two real estate funds that raised a total of $55 million in equity. The funds are focused on acquiring neighborhood centers across the United States with service-oriented tenants. Before spearheading SWNC efforts, Tim led the brokerage team, providing individualized business planning and support over many years.

At the local level, Tim has served numerous leadership roles in Birmingham’s commercial real estate community, serving as Alabama Chapter President of CCIM in 2012 and Board President of Birmingham Commercial Realtor Council in 2015. Additionally, Blair was the YMCA of Birmingham’s Metro Board Chair for 2019-20 after serving as branch chair for the Five Points YMCA as well as the Shades Valley YMCA.
